Sound System Optimization: What,Why, and Some How--Chuck Hatcher, UCCCM, will lead an introductory discussion of sound system optimization from a designer’s perspective. What it is, why its important and how SMAART software can help to turn a bunch of loudspeakers into a coherent system for musicals and dramas.
Video Collaboration---Since time is money, how can we collaborate more effectively from a distance? Denison University’s Instructional Technologists, Cheryl Johnson and Jeff Braumberger, will share tips & tricks for video collaboration through freeware sites like Skype and Tokbox.
SAM, A Robotic Stage Hand--Greg Bell, Joshua Branch, & Jonathan Seiller,
Otterbein College, will focus on the development of their Scenic Automated Mover (SAM), and how the technology behind SAM can be used for simpler tasks in theater such as special effects.
History, It Won’t Kill You--Jeff Gress, Capital University, and other panelists will share answers to the question of who created the ERS and other tools we use everyday.
Going Green Behind the Scenes--Paul Vincent, Vincent Lighting Systems, will enlighten us on how we can be more environmentally friendly in our productions with the latest use of LEDs lighting and scenic technology.

Scenic Painting Without Brushes--Pam Lavarnway, Wright State University, will demonstrate techniques using non-brush tools.
Basic Console Programming on the Strand Palette Series--Representatives from
Vincent Lighting Systems will be conducting a hands-on session on Strand’s popular Palette Series lighting console. Topics covered may include: console setup, patching, recording cues, and general operation.
SAM, A Robotic Stage Hand 2--This session will proceed deeper into the capabilities of microcontrollers and SAM. Any attendees who have created small robotic units are invited to share them at this time during the Q&A.
Draping Techniques Using the Half-Scale Dress Form--Regina Truhart, David Arevelo,Emily Willie, Amanda Janke, and Becky Roesfelt of UC-CCM will present a session which will allow participants to try several draping and patterning techniques using half-scale dress forms. For more information:

2:00-3:00 PM Membership Meeting
The annual fall membership meeting will address section business including nominations for the annual board of directors’ election in the spring, details about upcoming events, and announcement of the awards in the Peggy Ezekiel Exhibit.
Skills for Stage Managers--Travis DeCastro, Kevin Paulson, & Michael Karns, Penn State, will lead this session which will include an overview of responsibilities, paperwork, & practices.
Strand Palette Console--Advanced Topics--Attendees will direct the discussion to cover topics of interest as representatives from Vincent Lighting Systems answer questions. Topics may include: automated lighting control, effects, tracking, multi-user, and networking.
An Intuitive Case Study of Large-Scale Sound System Design & Engineering--Timothy Ryan, Doctoral Candidate at McGill University, will share system design experience on a recent production of Hair at UC-CCM, the first production to utilize line arrays in Corbett Auditorium, from an engineer’s perspective.
What About Wigs?--Heather Flemming, Wig Master/Designer at Actors’ Theatre of Louisville, will answer all of your most basic wig questions including what types are available, how to choose the right wig, how to prepare an actor’s hair under a wig, and the basic care and feeding of wigs.
Resumes and Cover Letters--What Are THEY Looking For?--Phil Rundle, long-time
Production Manager at Tony Award winning Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, will share his insight as to what he likes to see in a resume and cover letter. Bring your resume and cover letter to get feedback from Phil and other attendees.
